Mainstream journalism has a distortion problem. Not always dishonesty, more often a quiet set of assumptions about which governments deserve scrutiny, which deaths are worth counting, which stories are credible enough to touch. The result is a press that tells you what happened, but rarely what it means, and almost never who benefits from the version they’re telling.

Crust News exists to correct that.

We cover conflict, immigration enforcement, and media accountability, the stories that are either ignored or told wrong. We report on atrocities that major outlets normalise through repetition and euphemism. We built the ICE List to bring public scrutiny to an agency that had grown used to operating in the dark.

We do not believe media outlets should be “unbiased”, we believe that those who report on geopolitics should have international law as their bias, and we apply the same standard to every government we cover. No exceptions for allies.

We’ve made people uncomfortable doing it. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security called us “thugs” not because we broke the law, but because we exposed their lies. We take that as confirmation we’re doing something right.

We don’t have corporate backers. No ads, no investors, no editorial relationships to protect. What we have is a mission and the readers who believe it matters.

What your support funds:

- Accountability reporting: conflict, crackdowns, and the stories mainstream outlets won’t touch
- Independence: the ability to say what we see, without asking anyone’s permission first
- The ICE List: a public, searchable database of ICE agents and activity, built from public records and verified tips

If you believe the press should tell the truth about power — all of it, equally — this is where that belief becomes material support.
